MANILA, Philippines—The Supreme Court will hold on Monday a memorial for former Chief Justice Andres Narvasa, who died on Oct. 31 at the age of 84. Court spokesman Theodore Te said Narvasa’s cremated remains will be at the session hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“A short program to remember him and celebrate his life and service to the Supreme Court will be held at noon,” Te announced on Twitter.

“Full honors, as befitting his stature as a chief justice, will be rendered by the Philippine National Police,” he added.

Earlier, the Supreme Court paid tribute to Narvasa for his “legacy in judicial reform and excellence.”

“As associate justice, he penned decisions with clarity and substance. As chief justice, he led the court by example, displaying integrity and wisdom, and serving as a model for justices and judges to emulate,” said Acting Chief Justice Presbitero Velasco Jr. in a statement.—Jerome Aning
