MMDA reroutes traffic in Manila Sunday

MANILA, Philippines—Motorists in Manila were advised to take alternate routes as the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit will hold its Alay Lakad Para sa Kabataan on Sunday, the Metro Manila Development Authority said.

About 500,000 to 800,000 people are expected to join the activity, the MMDA said in its advisory Friday.

It said the following roads will be closed starting at 4 a.m.:

  • North and southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard, from Anda Circle to President Quirino
  • P. Burgos from Roxas Blvd. to Lagusnilad east and westbound
  • TM Kalaw from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue east and westbound, and
  • Ayala corner Finance

Motorists were advised to take the following alternate routes:

FEATURED STORIES
  • All vehicles coming from southern part of Manila intending to utilize the stretch of Roxas Blvd. northbound lane shall turn right P. Ocampo or President Quirino, left Taft Avenue to point of destination
  • All PUVs traveling along A. Mabini Street shall turn right P. Gil or may either go straight and turn right to UN Avenue, left Taft Avenue to point of destination
  • All vehicles coming from northern part of Manila intending to utilize the stretch of Roxas Blvd. southbound lane coming from Delpan Bridge-Pier Zone shall take A. Soriano, go straight Magallanes Drive, right P. Burgos straight to Lagusnilad (Taft Avenue) to point of destination
  • All vehicles coming from three bridges- MacArthur, Jones, and Quezon intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd. from P. Burgos shall go straight Lagusnilad (Taft Avenue) to point of destination
  • All vehicles coming from the three subject bridges intending to proceed to Intramuros area shall turn right to Victoria Street to point of destination

For trucks:

  • All cargo trucks travelling Osmena Highway – right President Quirino Avenue, straight ahead to Nagtahan, AH Lacson, Yuseco Street, crossing Jose Abad Santos straight Raxabago, Capulong, to point of destinations
  • All cargo trucks, trailers, vans and other heavy duty vehicles coming from Road 10 intending to cross Delpan bridge shall be diverted to Capulong to point of destination

Motorists were also advised to use the same route for their return trip.
