Roxas Blvd., other streets closed Sunday for ‘Alay Lakad’

MANILA, Philippines – Roxas Boulevard and at least three other streets leading to it or from it will be closed Sunday morning to give way to the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit’s “Alay Lakad Para sa Kabataan,” the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Friday.

It said 500,000 to 800,000 participants were expected to participate in the walk-run.

An MMDA advisory said the following streets would be closed starting at 4 a.m. Sunday (September 4):

• North and southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard, from Anda Circle to President Quirino;

• P. Burgos from Roxas Boulevard to Lagusnilad, east and westbound;

• TM Kalaw from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue, east and westbound; and

• Ayala corner Finance.

Motorists may take the following alternate routes:

• All vehicles coming from the southern part of Manila intending to utilize the stretch of Roxas Boulevard northbound lane shall turn right on P. Ocampo or President Quirino, left on Taft Avenue to point of destination.

• All PUVs traveling along A. Mabini Street shall turn right on P. Gil or may either go straight and turn right to UN Avenue, left on Taft Avenue to point of destination.

• All vehicles coming from the northern part of Manila intending to utilize the stretch of Roxas Boulevard southbound lane coming from Delpan Bridge-Pier Zone shall take A. Soriano, go straight Magallanes Drive, right on P. Burgos straight to Lagusnilad (Taft Avenue) to point of destination.

• All vehicles coming from the bridges MacArthur, Jones, and Quezon intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from P. Burgos shall go straight Lagusnilad (Taft Avenue) to point of destination.

• All vehicles coming from the bridges MacArthur, Jones, and Quezon intending to proceed to Intramuros area shall turn right to Victoria Street to point of destination.

For trucks:

• All cargo trucks travelling on Osmeña Highway – right President Quirino Avenue, straight ahead to Nagtahan, AH Lacson, Yuseco Street, crossing Jose Abad Santos straight Raxabago, Capulong, to point of destinations

• All cargo trucks, trailers, vans and other heavy-duty vehicles coming from Road 10 intending to cross Delpan bridge shall be diverted to Capulong to point of destination.

Motorists are also advised to use the same route for their return trip.
