MANILA, Philippines — Informal settlers in Quezon City protested against being shut out of their homes by lying down along the northbound lane of EDSA for several minutes Friday.
Motorists were irked as residents of Sitio (sub-village) San Roque in North Triangle formed a makeshift barricade and laid down along EDSA near two major malls, a radio report said.
The residents claimed they have been prevented from returning to their homes early Friday morning by security guards of developer Ayala Land developing North Triangle into a business district.
After snarling traffic for several minutes, the informal settlers were forced to get up and clear the road when a few motorcycles and private vehicles found a small gap to pass through, the report said.
Residents in Sitio San Roque have been offered relocation sites as North Triangle was being developed.
