OVER a hundred supporters of defeated barangay candidate Junior “Amo” de Gracia in Pasil sought Mayor Michael Rama’s help in a rally they held in front of Cebu City Hall grounds Wednesday afternoon.
They alleged that Julius Guioguio, who was proclaimed as barangay chairman of Pasil, cheated by bringing in flying voters. De Gracia is a Team Rama candidate.
“We’ll accept defeat if people from Pasil were the ones who voted but they were from the islands,” said one supporter Ermica Cuizon. Guioguio won with 3,274 votes against de Gracia’s 3,124 votes.
Alex Abas, one of the supporters, said 350 flying voters were brought into the barangay from Catmon, Sta. Rosa, Bantayan and Compostela town and the cities of Danao and Talisay.
Later in the afternoon, Rama showed up and asked the protesters to leave.
Rama assured them that he will be meeting with de Gracia to discuss the matter. Correspondent Jose Santino S. Bunachita
