Airport general manager to give another P1M to Bohol
The Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) has given P1 million to Cebu province and will be giving another P1 million to Bohol next week as aid to the victims of the recent 7.2-magnitude earthquake.
MCIAA general manager Nigel Paul Villarete personally handed over the check to Gov. Hilario Davide III in his office at the Capitol yesterday morning.
“This is part of our commitment to both provinces that we will always lend a helping hand,” said Villarete.
The financial assistance was approved on Oct. 17 during the regular meeting of the MCIAA board. He said the amount came from their corporate social responsibility fund.
Villarete said he will be going to Bohol Tuesday next week to hand over the P1 million financial aid.
He said the donation is intended for the continuing relief operations and infrastructure rehabilitation in Bohol.
Meanwhile, Governor Davide also received a donation of P200,000 from the Philippine Association of Superintendents earlier that morning.
Regional Director Carmelita Dulangon of the Department of Education in Central Visayas was present to receive the check on behalf of the department and the province.
“This will really be of great help,” said Davide.
As classes in the province resume on Nov. 4 and while there are still many school buildings declared as “unsafe,” Davide said the amount will be used to acquire tents for the school children.
“They can hold classes there in the meantime,” Davide said. /CORRESPONDENT VICTORY ANTHONY SILVA
