On land and in the water, scenes straight out of horror movies play out in Quezon City.
A man out to catch fish on the QC side of Marikina River hauled in a severed human arm instead Wednesday morning. In another part of the city, a man’s corpse was found stuffed in a trash bag dumped on the sidewalk early Thursday.
Police said Ariel de Guzman of Barangay Nangka in Marikina City caught the chopped-off limb in his net around 10 a.m. along the section of the river near Vista Real Classica Subdivision in Barangay Batasan Hills.
SPO1 Pascual Fabreag of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) said the arm was wrapped in a trash bag when found by the fisherman. It was already decomposing, making it hard to tell if it belonged to a man or a woman, Fabreag said.
In Cubao, blood seeping out of a black garbage bag led to the discovery of a dead man believed to be a victim of summary execution.
A teenage scavenger found the body on the sidewalk of the Aurora Boulevard flyover in Barangay Immaculate Conception, said PO3 Modestino Juanson, also of the QCPD-CIDU.
The half-naked body bore stab wounds and strangulation marks. The victim was about 5’3” tall, fair-skinned and of medium build, with the letters “DP” tattooed on the right arm, and appeared to be between 30 and 40 years old. Jeannette I. Andrade
