UST student in taxi holdup horror

A robber, not a ghost in this season of Halloween gave a 21-year-old University of Sto. Tomas medical student the scare of her life after she was held up at gunpoint in a cab on Wednesday in San Juan City.

More than P10,000 worth of valuables were  taken from Janela Angeli Panopio when the driver of a cab she had boarded   pointed a gun at her and declared a holdup on Barcelona Street corner V. Cruz Street in Barangay Sta. Lucia around noon.

San Juan police chief Senior Supt. Joselito Daniel said the victim was on her way to Greenhills when the still-unidentified driver of a white taxi with plate number TXY 362 stopped at an isolated area and declared the holdup.

Panopio told investigators the suspect was between 40 to 45 years old and had a medium build.

Out of fear for her life, Panopio gave her cell phone and money to the suspect, police said.

The victim was later told to get off the taxi after the heist.

“Then the driver just sped off,” Panopio told the police.

Daniel said they would check the identity of the suspect through the taxi owner, who can be traced through the vehicle’s plate number. Kristine Felisse Mangunay
