3 SHS-AdC players fly to HK to play in Jr. NBA
LADY luck continues to smile upon the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles as three of their players left for Hong Kong to be part of the Jr. NBA Philippines national squad which will compete against China starting today until Sept. 4.
Leading the delegation are Dawn Ochea, MVP of the Jr. NBA national training camp, Miguel Competente and Passerelle team member Rendell Senining.
Ochea and Competente are part of the SHS-AdC juniors squad that grabbed the solo lead in the standings of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI).
They joined seven other players from Manila in forming the ten-man Jr. NBA All-Star team that will play against a counterpart Jr. NBA team in Hong Kong.
The other members of the team include Manila-based players Jarell Lim, Lorenzo Fernando Navarro, Kobe Lorenzo Paras, Ferdinand Ravena III, Alfred Sajulga, Justin Oliver Serrano and Tsaddy John Tabaldo.
The Jr. NBA camp was a series of training clinics and camps held from the provincial to the national level for 10-14 year old players.
Article continues after this advertisementThe three Magis Eagles topped the Cebu training camp and qualified for the national training edition that hosted the top 50 players from all provincial legs.
This is the third year in a row that SHS-AdC players have made it to the Jr. NBA Philippine team. Other players who made it in the past were Adrian Muller and RG Araw-araw in 2009, and Patrick Go, and Henry Asilum in 2010. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
