MCWD sets up action center

A DAY after the earthquake, the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) set up an action center outside the main building to entertain customers.

On Thursday, a one-stop shop was set up at the ground floor of the main office to entertain billing, service connection and application inquiries.

Consumers no longer need to go to the fourth floor for their billing and service connection concerns as staffers from these two departments are stationed near the payment area to entertain them.

MCWD managers, supervisors and customer service representatives manned tents outside the MCWD office to serve its consumers.

Four teams of engineers and consultants inspected the eight-story building and gave clearance that the edifice is safe.

The water district also provided free potable water to the patients of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) who were displaced due to the earthquake. They are now housed at the Bureau of Fire Protection compound across CCMC.

Dr. Fulton Lunod said the free water is already a big help to the patients and staff of the hospital.

Cely Quilaton, 31, whose one-month-old son was confined due to severe pneumonia, is thankful for the free water which they can use in washing clothes and sheets as well as for drinking.

Annie Silgas, an employee of the hospital, also said she was thankful for the free water as they need it for cleaning and washing.
