Village councilor survives slay try

A barangay councilor in Cebu City survived an attempt on his life last Wednesday morning.

San Roque barangay councilor Bobby Morados, 62, was in his store on Logarta street when a motorcycle-riding gunman fired at him.

A woman was injured after she was hit by a stray bullet.

Police said Morados had just arrived in his store on board a motorcycle when the attacked occurred.

The motive of the attack has not yet been established.

Police said while Morados was tending to his store, two men on board a motorcycle arrived.

Police said the backrider pointed a gun at Morados, squeezed the trigger thrice but the gun malfunctioned.

This gave Morados the chance to drop to the ground before the gun finally went off, said police.

A stray bullet hit Josephine Sanjorjo, 52, of barangay Zapatera, Cebu City, in the back.

The woman was in the area buying slippers from another store.

The assailants fled to an unknown direction.

The woman was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center.
