Retired cop shot dead in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines—A retired police officer was shot in broad daylight by motorcycle-riding suspects in Quezon City Wednesday , police said.

Police Officer 3 Venerando Trago, Quezon City Police District-Station 10 investigator, identified the victim as Benjamin Paolo, 58, a former police officer assigned with Traffic Management Group.

Paolo was sitting in front of the Criseden Building in Magalang corner Makisig streets, Barangay (village) Pinyahan in Quezon City around 9:30 a.m. when the suspects arrived and opened fire at the victim.

Paolo died on the spot, Trago said.
In a radio interview, Gerry Morales, a witness, claimed that the gunman used a silencer for his gun.

He also said Paolo’s companion in fixing registration papers for vehicles was also killed along Philcoa in Quezon City last year.
