MANILA, Philippines – Barangay (village) elections in Calayan Island in Cagayan province were rescheduled for October 30 and 31, the Commission on Elections said on Monday.

Comelec acting executive director IV Bartolome Sinocruz Jr. said at a press conference that the elections in the main island of Calayan would be held on Oct. 30.

Elections in the five island villages, meanwhile, will be on October 31. There are 12 villages in Calayan Island.

The delivery of election paraphernalia was delayed because of rough seas.

“The supplies are now en route to Calayan. They are now in Camiguin Island,” Sinocruz said.

All precincts in the region of Cagayan Valley opened on Monday except for Calayan in Cagayan province.
