THE Singapore Red Cross has sent the first tranche of relief items worth S$100,000 to earthquake survivors in Bohol.
These include food, basic hygiene and medical supplies. The Singapore Red Cross deployed a team of relief volunteers to the earthquake-hit provinces of Cebu and Bohol to aid the ongoing relief operations in the area.
The SRC team began operations as soon as they arrived in the Philippines. SRC doctor volunteers in Tagbilaran City assisted local surgeons in conducting surgical procedures. The SRC team also joined the Philippine Red Cross in the municipality of Loon to help set up an advance medical post. A second SRC team will also be deployed to help the Red Cross with its medical mission in Bohol.
