Number coding suspended Monday

MANILA, Philippines—The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Monday said the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program, or number coding scheme, is lifted Monday, barangay (village) election day, which is a special non-working holiday.

In a Twitter post, the MMDA said the suspension of the traffic scheme will cover the entire Metro Manila, including the cities of Pasay and Makati.

MMDA earlier said the coding scheme is automatically lifted during holidays.

Under the coding scheme, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are not allowed in major thoroughfares on Mondays.
