MANILA, Philippines — Court of Appeals Cebu has been ordered closed due to the damage caused by the recent earthquake.
“Considering the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that hit Cebu City, the Cebu station of the Court of Appeals is hereby closed effective October 22 for safety reasons until further orders by the undersigned [Reyes] upon receipt of information that the building has been inspected and certified safe to be occupied by the proper government authorities,” Court of Appeals Presiding Justice Andres Reyes Jr. said in a one-page memorandum.
The memorandum stated that the receiving dockets and cash sections shall maintain a skeletal force to receive pleadings and corresponding fees.
The order was approved by Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
There are three Court of Appeals stations — Manila, Cebu and Cagayan De Oro. There are 18 justices stationed in Cebu.
