Coast Guard, CPA outline port measures for All Saints’ Day

HELP desks and medical stations will be set up at in port passenger centers.

Vessels will be inspected before they sail.

Packages of passengers will be sniffed by K9 teams.

These are some of the measures to be set in place by Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) for the crowd expected to travel to provinces for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

“Vessels should have life saving facilities for the safety of the passengers as well as the crew,” said William Melad, PCG Central Visayas commander.

MEDICAL STATIONS

The Cebu Port Authority will also set up medical stations at passenger terminals in Cebu port.

The CPA has three passenger terminals, but only terminal 2 is operational.

Terminal 3 is under repair after it was damaged by the Oct. 15 earthquake.

Terminal 1 will be completed and open on Nov. 15, said Lawyer Karen Gonzales, CPA media liaison officer. /Correspondent Michelle Joy L. Padayhag
