MANILA, Philippines—Good weather is expected in most parts of the country on the day of the barangay elections, except Palawan and Mindanao which may experience gray skies and scattered rains, the state weather bureau said Saturday.
In a special weather outlook for the October 28 elections, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecast generally fair weather in Luzon and Visayas except for isolated rain or thunderstorms.
But Palawan and Mindanao will experience “cloudy skies with scatteredlight to moderate rains and thunderstorms,” according to the advisory issued by the agency’s officer in charge, Vicente Malano.
“The rest of the country will have generally fair weather aside from isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon,” Pagasa said.
Moderate to occasionally strong northeasterly winds will prevail in the northern and eastern section of Luzon with moderate to occasionally rough seas, it said.
The rest of Luzon and the Visayas will have light to moderate northeasterly winds with slight to moderate seas, while Mindanao will have light northeasterly to variable winds with slight seas except during the occurrence of thunderstorms, it added.
As of mid-Saturday, an intertropical convergence zone was affecting Palawan and Mindanao, while the northeast monsoon was prevailing in Northern Luzon, Pagasa said.
According to Pagasa’s 24-hour weather outlook, Palawan, Eastern Visayas and Mindanao would have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms.
The regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and Aurora province will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain, it said.
