Top Cebuano karter to compete in Singapore Karting C’ship

CEBU’S top karter, Jette Calderon, will be carrying the country’s flag up high as he competes in Rounds 5 and 6 of the Singapore Karting Championship on Nov. 2 at the Changi Karting Circuit in Singapore.

Calderon, a many-time Karter of the Year awardee who is once again tipped to reclaim that title after a blistering showing in the 2013 Kartzone Superkart Series, will be competing in the KF2 class against some of the best karters in and around Asia in the finale of Singapore’s karting series.

Five titles are at stake in this competition, namely the SKC title, the SKC Junior, SKC Senior, the SKC Veteran and the SKC Cadet.

In spite losing in Leg 6 to Joseph Rojo, Calderon is still expected to run away with the Karter of the Year crown provided he fares well in the seventh and final leg on Nov. 17 at the Kartzone Racing Circuit in Brgy. Panagdait.

According to race organizer Kim Limgenco, should Rojo win the qualifying race and the subsequent heats, Calderon needs only to finish in third place in all the races to secure the KT Expert title and the Karter of the Year plum by just a single point. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
