SM Supermalls, in partnership with Weather Philippines Foundation, has committed to install automated weather stations (AWS) in all SM malls nationwide.

WPF is a non-profit organization founded by Aboitiz Foundation Inc., Unionbank and Europe’s leading weather service provider Meteomedia.

The Automated Weather Stations will help monitor weather condition in the locality.

WeatherPhilippines Foundation aims to install roughly 1,000 automated weather stations in the country before end 2013 to aid local government units, communities, and individuals in disaster risk preparedness and timely response to variable weather conditions.

At present, it has approximately 400 AWS in various locations across the Philippines.
