THE Eagles nipped Pecandela Law Firm, 75-72, last Saturday to take the solo lead in the 11th Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-2013 basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.
Pecandela roared to a 19-9 start and maintained its double-digit lead in the 2nd and 3rd cantos, 56-45. But the Eagles unloaded a blistering, 30-16 run in the 4th for the come-from-behind win which improved their record to 3-0 while the latter fell to 2-1.
Earlier, the Los Demonyos beat Primos-Rama, 63-57, to improve to 2-1 while the latter dropped to 0-3.
Lito Ortiz and Bads Del Prado led Los Demonyos with 12 points apiece while Mayor Rama and Rex Mangubat paced Primos with 14 markers each.
Meanwhile, YLAC trounced Dissenters, 77-69, to tie its victims at 1-2. Ivans Verallo and Cris Ang led YLAC with 16 points each while former UC Webmaster Kern Sesante paced Dissenters with a game-high 25 points.
In the main game, the Super Idols (2-1) led from start to finish and nosed out defending champion Pañeros (1-2) by six points, 65-59.
