SOUTHWESTERN University (SWU) will gun for its third straight victory in the junior girls division of the 2013 Smart-Philippine Taekwondo League (PTL) when the competition enters its third round on Nov. 3 at the SM City Consolacion in Consolacion town, northern Cebu.
SWU’s lady jins will be seeking revenge over the UC squad after the former’s junior boys squad fell to UC, 56-59, in last Sunday’s lone contest in the second round.
SWU’s jins will be coming into the match against UC with momentum on their side as they are coming off from a victory versus bottom-dweller Cabancalan NHS the last time out.
Expected to once again spearhead SWU’s campaign for a seat in the National Age Group Competition on Nov.16 and 17 at the Rizal Memorial Basketball Stadium in Manila are Ashley Venus Bongon, Roan Begontes, Lyza Mae Sabellano, Lorelee Natividad, Florlyn Cabo and Nicole Elpa.
In the Cadet division, topping the list in the girls category is the Divino team with a 2-0 (win-loss) record followed by UC at second with 1-1, Cabancalan NHS with 1-2 and St. Theresa’s College with 0-1.
The University of San Carlos is ahead in the cadet boys division with an immaculate record of 2-0, followed by UC with 1-0, Cebu Cherish with 2-1, San Roque with 1-2 and the Abellana National School with a 0-3 card. /Correspondent JADE S. VIOLETA
