Fire engulfs Laguna hardware

CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Laguna, Philippines—A three-story hardware store and a nearby burger stand in Barangay (village) Poblacion in San Pedro, Laguna, were torched in a fire that started around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

As of 10 p.m., firefighters have yet to put it out although they declared the fire under control an hour ago, according to San Pedro police chief Supt. Sergio Manacop.

Manacop, who was interviewed by phone from the scene, said the fire originated from the third floor of Primewood Construction and Marketing Inc. located near the municipal hall building in Barangay Poblacion.

The hardware store contained construction materials.

Authorities have not reported any casualty. The national road was reportedly closed to traffic.
