Mexican Rosas vows to end Melindo’s unbeaten run

/ 07:52 AM September 01, 2011

WINNING two of his last three fights, Francisco Rosas is definitely not an easy target for ALA prized fighter Milan Melindo when they collide in the main event of the Pinoy Pride 8: Philippines vs. Mexico on Sept. 10 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

“It won’t matter if I fight in Melindo’s hometown. It will just motivate me more fighting in front of Melindo’s countrymen,” said Rosas.

Rosas and Melindo will fight for the WBO Intercontinental Flyweight crown.

“I’ve been into several fights in my career. Fighting away from home has never slowed me down,” said Rosas who is coming off a win against Antonio Garibay, whom he dispatched in just five rounds last July 28 in Hidalgo, Mexico.

That win allowed Rosas to bounce back from a second round knockout loss to Roman Gonzales last Oct. 24, 2010. Before that loss, Rosas scored a majority decision against Juan Jose Landaeta in Puebla, Mexico.

Rosas said not even the unbeaten record of Melindo can intimidate him.

“Records won’t scare me. Melindo’s unbeaten run will end on Sept. 10,” warned Rosas.

“His unbeaten record only shows that he is a good fighter. But I am ready for him. I have trained hard and I am going to prove who the better boxer is come Sept. 10,” said Rosas.

Rosas said he is not predicting a knockout win but vowed that he will go home with a convincing victory.

“I’ll just do the talking on the ring. Everyone is saying he is a tough fighter then let’s see how tough he is,” said Rosas.
