This Saturday, the Philippines’ best boxers will not only be having the fight of their lives– they will also be fighting for the lives of others.
Still reeling from the massive destruction caused by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake last Tuesday, Bohol survivors remain in dire need of help, both monetary and manual.
In response to the tragedy, #Bangon SugBohol Movement was created, a collective effort of concerned individuals, institutions and non-profit organizations to help the victims of the earthquake. It was convened by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) last Friday, and since then, at least 20 civic organizations and business groups, especially Island Souvenirs who helped spearhead the media-based campaign, have responded to the call for help.
Ready to stand up and be the best role models they can possibly be, the generous fighters at the ALA Gym led by Pinoy Pride XXII headliner Genesis “Azucal” Servania and co-main event fighter “King” Arthur Villanueva have pledged to dedicate their victory to the earthquake victims of Cebu and Bohol.
Part of the ticket sales of the event will be donated to the relief effort facilitated by #Bangon SugBohol.
“I will give my all and dedicate this fight to my fellow Boholanos and I hope they will recover well from this tragedy,” said Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo. Magnifico is a native of Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
The Pinoy Pride boxers hope to contribute not only unwavering support to the cause, but to also inspire others to do their civic duty.
Pinoy Pride XXII: The Revenge will happen this Saturday, (Oct. 26) at the Cebu City Waterfront Hotel and Casino.
