A candidate for the post of chairman in the coming barangay (village) elections was found bleeding apparently from a gunshot wound in the head in his home in Libis Baesa, Barangay 160, Caloocan City on Monday morning.
Victor Ando, 42, an outgoing councilman of Barangay 160, Sta. Quiteria, in Caloocan North was seated on a chair in the living room of his house when he was found by his wife, Gemma, with blood oozing from the right part of his head around 8 a.m.
“An initial investigation showed that the victim’s wife rushed to the room where her husband was after she heard the sound of gunfire,” said Senior Supt. Bernard Tambaoan, Caloocan police chief.
Ando was rushed to the Karuhatan General Hospital in nearby Valenzuela City, but doctors declared him dead around 10 a.m.
Investigators found one bullet shell at the crime scene, but no sign of a firearm.
Tambaoan said the police are still investigating the incident, with the motive still unclear.
“We are looking at the possibility that it could be suicide, or election-related,” he said.
The victim’s family added that Ando had no known enemies, the police chief said.
