Cop wounded by trigger-happy man after near-mishap

A policeman was shot and wounded by a neighborhood toughie after the two nearly figured in an accident in Quezon City on Sunday night.

Police are now looking for Heson Bagalacsa of Barangay (village) Sta. Monica, Novaliches.

The victim was identified as SPO1 Renato Corado, 51, a native of Eastern Samar who is assigned to the Quezon City Police District’s logistics division. He was shot in the back.

His wife, Rosalinda, was not harmed during the incident on Pugong Ginto Street where both parties figured in a near-mishap.

Case investigator PO1 Julius Raz learned from residents that Bagalacsa was known in the neighborhood as a trigger-happy toughie who had previously figured in several incidents of indiscriminate firing.

At 9 p.m. on Sunday, Corado was driving his car when it nearly collided with Bagalacsa’s motorcycle.

Corado went on his way but the suspect chased him and fired at the car, hitting the policeman in the back.
