<strong>QC teenager found dead after bringing girlfriend to her home</strong>
ALL HE wanted was to bring his girlfriend home, but it ended badly for a 14-year old high chool student when he was found dead along a street in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City, early Thursday morning. A tricycle driver found the boy at 5 a.m. The following day, Emelita Rosaroso-Rubillos told police the boy was her son Lawrence, a student of Culiat High School. Rubillos and her husband found Lawrence’s body at St. Rafael Funeral Homes and confirmed his identity with police Friday at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit at Camp Karingal in Quezon City, said PO3 Modestino Juanson, case investigator. The boy was stabbed several times in different parts of the body. Police have yet to identify the suspects and the motive, said Juanson. <STRONG>Bonsai show ongoing</STRONG>
A BONSAI and suiseki show is ongoing until Sunday at SM City on Quirino Highway, Novaliches, Quezon City. Titled “Camaraderie Thru Bonsai,” the exhibitors are members of the Kapangpangan Horticulture and Bonsai Society, Cabanatuan Bonsai Society, Rizal Bonsai Club, Nueva Ecija Bonsai Society, UP Bonsai Club, Batangas Bonsai Society, Bulacan Bonsai Society and Suiseki Club, bonsai enthusiasts of Northern Luzon and collectors from Tarlac, Marikina City, Manila, Mindoro and Laguna, among others. Invited guest of honor was Master Li Tiong Hong from the Taiwan National Bonsai Association. The exhibit, which is open to the public, is supported by the Bonsai and Suiseki Alliance of the Philippines Inc. headed by Letty Ligon, the Cactus and Succulent Society headed by Dorie S. Bernabe, bonsai icon Mody Manglicmot, Philippine Bonsai Society founder and Ikebana professor Serapion S. Metilla, David Du, Dr. Elmer Villareal and Vic de Rona.
<STRONG>Manila Bay clean-up run</STRONG>
THE REGISTRATION for the Manila Bay Clean-Up Run, scheduled on July 17, is ongoing at the Manila Broadcasting Company lobby. The event is open to all interested participants and will feature races in the 3K, 5K, 10K, and 21K divisions for both men and women. A prize of P20,000 goes to the first-place finisher in the 21K run, P10,000 for the top10K runner, P5,000 to the winner of the 5K run, and P3,000 for the 3K winner. There will also be a special award for the biggest group that submits a minimum of 25 paying entries. The Manila Bay Clean-Up Run is a project of MBC in tandem with the City of Manila and Land Bank, as supported by Smart Communications, Naproxin Sodium, M. Lhuillier, and Enervon Multivitamins. The race will also coincide with the 72nd anniversary celebration of MBC’s flagship radio station dzRH—the Philippines’ oldest surviving radio network.
