3 PBA teams to visit Cebu next month for 3-day tourney

THREE teams from the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will be coming to town to compete in a three-day tournament which will serve as a fund-raising project of the Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ).

Slated Nov. 7 to 9 at the Cebu Coliseum, the tournament will have the Alaska Aces, GlobalPort Batang Pier and Barako Bull Energy Colas.

Completing the cast is CM Farm, a commercial team from Tagum City which is owned by Verginia Allones and Mario Bantillan and coached by Van Halen Parmis, who is currently an assistant coach of the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers. CM Farm will be reinforced by Cameroonian players and former PBA players.

Parmis assured that the team will put up a good fight in the tournament, which is also supported by Enya Ideals, Cebu City Government and the Cebu City Sports Commission.

Proceeds of the tournament will go to CFBJ, whose members are composed of various beat reporters, photographers and cameramen in Cebu.

CFBJ has a continuing project of promoting healthy lifestyle among its members through the Newsmen Basketball Association of Cebu (NBAC) and is planning to put up a volleyball tournament. /EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
