MANILA, Philippines –  Senator Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos Jr. is confident  that he and   his colleagues would be cleared  from any allegation of wrongdoing when  Janet  Lim-Napoles finally testifies  on the  P10 billion “pork barrel” scam.

Marcos has been mentioned in media reports as among the legislators who allegedly gave funds to  fake non-government organizations  linked to  Napoles.

“The entire nation deserves to know the truth behind this issue. But more importantly, as a matter of this very vilified condition, I want the truth to come out as I am confident that it would eventually clear my name and other colleagues from any allegation of wrongdoing,”  Marcos said in a statement on Thursday.

“As I have said before, I will extend my full cooperation and support in the effort to bring out the truth behind this controversy so that we, the country, and the people can move on in the task of nation-building,” he added.

Marcos issued the statements a day after Senate  President Franklin Drilon announced his decision to sign the  subpoena for Napoles.

Marcos said he was  fully behind Drilon’s decision and in fact  would have  voted  for the issuance of the  subpoena  had  it  been put to a vote  in a caucus  Wednesday.

“I would have voted in favor of asserting the independence and authority of the Senate by issuing summons to Ms. Napoles in the spirit of transparency and ferreting out the truth,’ he said.
