Snipers grab solo lead in Picpa hoop

THE Alvin Zabala-led Picpa Snipers ripped Picpa Intangibles, 68-44, last Sunday to grab the solo lead with a 7-3 card in the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)-2013 basketball tournament.

The Snipers trailed by seven points early, 12-19 but rallied hard in the 2nd to grab the lead at halftime, 34-29, then posted its biggest lead of 24 points at the buzzer.

Alvin Zabala led PICPA Snipers with 17 points while Rendol Judilla paced Picpa Intangibles (3-7) also with 17 markers.

In the other game, Phoenix beat Picpa Bulls, 61-53, to improve to 6-3 while the latter fell to 3-6.

FEATURED STORIES

Lito Padios and Jun Cabanelez powered Phoenix with 16 and 13, respectively, while Edlin Endrina and Owen Yap paced the Bulls with 20 and 12 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats edged the Hoopers, 52-51, on a late-game rally by Benson Romero and Jade Labaya for their 6th win in nine games. The latter fell to 4-5.

Romero led the Wildcats with 25 points.
