The Mandaue City government celebrated the locality’s 42nd Charter Day by awarding 19 outstanding employees last night in ceremonies at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
Awarding rites followed the thanksgiving Mass officiated by Fr. Randy Nebria in the National Shrine of Saint Joseph.
Mayor Jonas Cortes commended the awardees (see table) for a job well done. He said they were awarded based on performance evaluation.
“We are very fortunate to have them as partners in our aim to make our beloved city a place we are proud to call home,” Cortes said in a speech.
Market administrator Musoline Suliva, one of the honorees, said he was grateful for the award.
“Love your work and it will love you back,” Suliva said to employees who aspire for an award.
The awardees were each given a plaque of recognition and P3,000.
Mandaue became a city in Aug. 30, 1969, under Republic Act 5519 approved by then president Ferdinand Marcos.
Opao police precinct head Insp. Wison Abot told Cebu Daily News that this is the second consecutive year his precinct was cited in Charter Day rites.
He said they maintained peace and order situation in their area of responsibility.
He said he and his personnel have been following the flagship program of the Philippine National Police like conducting security checkpoints, raids and buy bust operations.
They also kept police visibility high and patrolled the city often as mandated by city director Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac.
He said they also conduct regular pulong-pulong with barangay residents. /Norman V. Mendoza, Correspondent
