DOJ summons Napoles to answer tax evasion raps

MANILA, Philippines–The Department of Justice has already summoned Janet Lim-Napoles, the main architect in the pork barrel scam, to answer for the tax evasion complaint filed against her and her husband by the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Edna Valenzuela, one of the panel members, said the preliminary investigation is set on October 21 and November 5.

She said they already sent summons for Napoles and husband Jaime.

They also required the Bureau of Internal Revenue to appear during the preliminary investigation.

The government is running after P44.68million unpaid taxes of Napoles and P16.43 million tax liability of her husband.
