KOREAN IN TROUBLE FOR STOLEN CAR

A KOREAN national is facing charges for violating the Anti-Fencing Law after allegedly acquiring a stolen vehicle.

Musung Lee was driving along H.Cortes St., Mandaue City when the Special Operation Team (SOT) of the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 7 intercepted his Nissan Urvan Escapade.

The vehicle did not have the current year’s validating sticker from the Land Transportation Office (LTO). Lee had also not strapped on his seat belt in violation of the seatbelt law.

Lee presented an LTO Certificate of Registration issued under the name of Aida Casaljay of Quiapo, Manila.

According to the SOT, the vehicle’s registration appeared to have not been renewed so they conducted an inspection of the vehicle’s chassis number.

They later learned that the car’s serial number showed signs of grinding and tampering. Its engine and restored chassis number was found out to be included in the list of stolen vehicles.

Man shot in Tuburan

A 52-YEAR-OLD man was hurt in a shooting incident in barangay Kabkaban, Tuburan town, Cebu.

Alberto Patindol and his live-in partner were walking home from watching a basketball game when a masked man blocked their path and shot Patindol twice, police said.

The victim was wounded in the arm and abdomen. He was rushed to the Tuburan District Hospital for treatment.

MAN, DAUGHTER ‘SHOT’

A MAN and his daughter were injured after a close family friend accidentally fired his gun inside their home in sitio Bakay, barangay Tulay, Minglanilla at around 7:30 p.m. last Saturday.

Jerry Rubas, 41, and his thirteen-year-old daughter were in their home awaiting a visit from their family friend, Edsel Franza and his wife.

Franza was in the midst of an argument with his wife when they arrived. The wife kept scolding her husband for bringing an unlicensed firearm.

An angry Franza took out his .45 caliber pistol to intimidate his wife but he accidentally pulled the trigger, shooting Rubas’ hand.

The bullet went through the victim’s hand and into his daughter’s thigh.

The two victims were rushed to the district hospital but were transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
