Stray bullet hits teenager

WHAT was supposed to be a fun night for a teenager and his girlfriend took a turn for the worse.

A 17-year-old man was hit by a stray bullet while watching a concert held in line with the upcoming fiesta yesterday dawn in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.


Jano Mandaue, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City, was taken to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital for a gunshot wound in the leg.

He was buying street food near the concert venue with his girlfriend when gunshots were heard.


He said he saw a man with a revolver shooting at another man but missing. He felt his left leg go numb and realized that the bullet had hit him instead. The gunman whose head was with a shirt, and his intended target, ran.

Police stationed a few meters away immediately searched but failed to find the gunman. Tanods who were in the area did not pursue the armed man. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
