Diano still unbeaten in CEPCA chess

TOP-SEED Eden Diano remained unbeaten after two rounds in the ongoing Cebu Professionals and Executives Chess Association (CEPCA) 23rd Anniversary Chess Open at the SM City Cebu event center yesterday.

Diano routed Crisanto Tan Jr. in the second round and was battling 28th-seed Erwin Ababat as of press time.

Others who also remained unbeaten so far in this nine-round tournament were fourth-seed Merben Roque, fifth-seed Richard Natividad, ninth-seed Rhenzi Kyle Sevillano, 15th-seed Joel Pacuribot, 22nd-seed Mark Mangubat and 29th-seed Vic Glyzen Derotas.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama spearheaded the opening ceremony of the tournament yesterday. The tournament is sponsored by Rose Pharmacy, Jemar Engineering, Lite Shipping, Model Rent a Car and CEPCA members. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
