The Southern Police District (SPD) has expressed alarm over the involvement of one of its men who was caught red-handed trying to sell two stolen motorcycles in Caloocan City last Sunday.

In a statement issued Tuesday, SPD spokesperson Chief Insp. Jenny Tecson acknowledged that PO1 Eduardo Lomboy was assigned at the District Public Safety Battalion.

The policeman was arrested on Sunday night with an accomplice who was identified as Jerome Aniscal.

SPD director Chief Supt. Jose Arne de los Santos said he had ordered the district’s investigation division to look into the possible administrative charges that could be filed against Lomboy who also faces criminal charges for violating the antifencing law.

He “emphasized that [any police] personnel who [would be found guilty of] misconduct, serious violation of policy and abuse of authority have no place … in the PNP organization.”

Both Lomboy and Aniscal were arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by the Caloocan police. After receiving a tip from a concerned citizen about the duo’s illegal activities, an undercover policeman contacted them and asked if they had any motorcycles for sale.

The pair then sold the policeman two motorcycles which turned out to be stolen.

De los Santos assured the public that “any form of abuse and violence committed by [SPD] personnel would not be tolerated and would be dealt with in accordance” with the rules on discipline.
