CFA mulls holding another license test
THE CEBU Football Association (CFA) is planning to host another C-Licensing Coaching Course to be sanctioned by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on the third week of November at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
The CFA is motivated to do this because of the high passing rate in the last course, where 11 out of the 22 who joined the two-week coaching course passed. Nine of those 11 were Cebuanos.
CFA took the risk of hosting an expensive coaching course to give Cebuano coaches a chance to become a licensed football coach.
According to CFA’s grassroots committee chairman Raffy Musni, the CFA, headed by president Ricky Dakay, spent P200,000 to host the coaching course. Participants took advantage of this as registration was free as well as their meals, venue, uniform and equipment.
“The C-License coaching course is part of CFA’s long-term goal in the development of football here in Cebu,” Musni said. “That’s why we are happy that a lot passed. Everything that we provided to the hopefuls were worth it.”
Musni said that the usual amount for registration for a C-Licensing coaching course is P5,000, while the B-License is P7,500 and the coveted A-License coaching course is P10,000.
“Before CFA sponsored this kind of activity, one can get a chance to take the licensing course in Manila. Now that CFA offer this here in Cebu, coaches should not waste their time and register as early as possible because we can only manage to accommodate 30 participants,” Musni said.
According to Musni, they are now accepting applicants for the November C-licensing course. To register, one can visit the CFA office beside the CCSC.
“Being a certified licensed coach is a huge accomplishment because when one can pass this course, he or she can carry this license anywhere in the world because FIFA will also accredit it,” Musni explained. “We are also following the AFC and PFF’s thrust to ban unlicensed coaches.”
The following coaches who got their C-License certificates were Cebuanos Julius Tapia, Orlando Salera, Tirso Ramon Roa, John Phil Opigal, Nolie Entero, Epifanio Ynot, Jonel Palang and Warloo Sabilla and Ormoc City’s Edwin Tumampo and Manila’s John Aaron Carlos and Fr.
