MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police said it has activated the National Headquarters Disaster Incident Management Task Group to coordinate all disaster response operations of PNP Units in areas threatened by Typhoon “Santi” (international codename: Nari).
Police Senior Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP-Public Information Office chief, said regional directors in areas along the projected path of Santi, particularly in provinces along the eastern seaboard of Luzon, has been alerted by Police Director Lina Sarmiento, PNP Director for Police Community Relations.
This move was made after the state weather bureau placed under typhoon warning signals parts of Luzon, including some island provinces that may probably be affected by strong winds, and heavy to intense rainfall.
National Support Units, including the Special Action Force, Maritime Group, Highway Patrol Group, Police Community Relations Group, as well as the Regional Public Safety Battalions, have also been mobilized to muster troops and resources for possible deployment to areas affected by floods, landslides and collapsed structures.
