Pages to lead CV netters bid in Milo Nat’l Finals

CEBU City’s top netters will have their hands full in defending their turf when the national finals of the 5th Milo Little Olympics unfolds on Oct. 25 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Bannering Team Visayas in the secondary girls division are Jana Pages, Zethley Mae Alferez, Kassandra Gandiongco, Dan Bi Kim and Shyne Villareal of B.R.I.G.H.T Academy.

The secondary boys team, on the other hand, will be manned by the netters of the University of San Carlos -Basic Education (USC-BED) including Christopher Encarnacion, Gener Francis Lambayan, Lord Mikell Lauron and Jan Godrey Seno.

Most of them did well in the recent Palawan Pawnshop-OTR regional age-group tennis tournament at the Consolacion Tennis Courts in Sitio Laray, Consolacion, Cebu with Pages winning the Girls 18-Under division crown and Alferez grabbing the 14-Under Girls title over Team Visayas teammate, Villareal.

Lambayan, for his part, clinched the 14-Under Boys title.

Expected to give the hosts a run for their money in the secondary boys division is the San Beda College (Rizal)-manned NCR squad bannered by Elijah S. Arevalo, Whismark B. Basana, Noel Damian Jr., Ralph Juliane and Jan Andre Rodriguez.

Expected to challenge Pages and the region’s secondary girls team are the St. Paul College-Pasig warriors of NCR in Sofia Isabella Dimalanta, Annika Josef Herico, Stephanie Japar, Lyra Nicole Sabado and Suzette Marianne Yngson. /Correspondent Jade S. Violeta
