Tycoons to join Aquino’s China state visit
BEIJING—More than 250 business leaders will be joining President Aquino on his state visit here, indicating that his trip is more about business than the politics of territory.
Many of the business leaders will be traveling with Mr. Aquino onboard Philippine Airlines’ special commercial flight PR001, scheduled to leave Manila Tuesday night.
Among those joining the President’s 270-man delegation are John Gokongwei, Jr., founder and chair-emeritus of JG Summit Holdings; Lucio Tan, founder and chairman of the group of companies that bears his name; Teresita Sy-Coson, co-chair of the SM Investments Corp.;
Washington Sycip, SGV and Co. founding chairperson; Ramon Ang, San Miguel Corp. President and Chief Executive Officer; Manuel Pangilinan, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. chairman;
Jose Pardo, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Council of Business Leaders chairman; Tony Tan Caktiong, Jollibee Foods Corp. chairman; Antonio Cojuangco, Nabasan Subic Development Corp. chairman;
George Ty, Metrobank chairman; Carlos Chan, Liwayway Holdings chairman; Andrew Tan, Allied Group, Inc chairman; Erramon Aboitiz, President and CEO of Aboitiz Equity Ventures; Alfredo Yao, Zesto Corp. chairman; Tan Ching of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc.; and Francis Chua, President of the PCCU-PCBC.
