MANILA, Philippines – The military on Thursday said that Moro National Liberation front founding chairman Nur Misuari was believed to be still in Sulu.
Misuari and his three lieutenants were ordered arrested by the Zamboanga City Regional Trial Court on Wednesday for the siege in the city which left over 200 killed people and displaced 100,000 persons.
“We believe that he is still in Sulu,” military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Zagala told reporters at Camp Aguinaldo.
He said their information came from their units on the ground.
Zagala said that the police would take the lead in the arrest, but they would give their assistance should they request for it.
“If they ask our support we will give it in all aspects,” he said.
Colonel Jose Johriel Cenabre, commander of 2nd Marine Brigade Commander based in Sulu, said they met with the police through Joint Peace and Security Committee to discuss the enforcement of the arrest warrant.
He also said that the police were the lead agency to handle the arrest and they would only be of support.
