MANILA, Philippines—The Bureau of Internal Revenue on Thursday filed a tax evasion complaint with the Department of Justice against the youngest daughter of Janet Lim Napoles.
BIR in its complaint said Jeane Catherine Lim Napoles should be prosecuted for willful attempt to evade filing and paying tax for 2011 and 2012 as stated under the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.
BIR Commissioner Kim Henares said that Jeane Napoles was able to acquire a condominium unit at the Ritz Carlton in Los Angeles, California worth P54.73 million. She also has a share equivalent to P1.49 million, in a Bayambang, Pangasinan property purchased in 2012.
“She, however, did not file any income tax return (ITR) in 2011 and 2012; nor were there any records of returns filed that will prove that gifts, bequests or devices were given to her,” Henares said.
“There was no donor’s tax or estate tax paid either,” Henares said.
The BIR said the young Napoles’ tax liability is P32.06 million.
“Hindi pa namin binilang yung mga ginagastos nya para mabuhay at yung pagpa-party nya gabi gabi,” Henares said at a press conference.
(We have yet to see how much she spent for her lavish lifestyle and her partying every night.)
But Henares said their investigation continuous if there are other violations committed by Jeane Napoles.
“We want to see how much exactly is her liability to the government,” Henares said.

Memes of the younger Napoles became a fixture in social media after netizens unearthed photographs and videos of her so-called extravagant lifestyle in the US.
Although she is believed to be residing abroad Henares said the Philippines may seek the help of other governments through existing taxation treaties.
On September 26, the BIR charged Jeane’s parents with tax evasion. Alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles’ tax liability amounted to P44.68 million while her husband’s was at P16.43 million.
Both did not file their ITR for various years amid acquiring millions worth of properties and vehicles.
