Sports’ top brass invited to Milo meet

Top honchos of Philippine sports are expected to attend the opening of the 5th Milo Little Olympics National Finals on Oct. 25 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Chief organizer Ricky Ballesteros said that they have already sent out invitations to Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richie Garcia and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) head Peping Cojuangco.

The multi-sports meet is expected to draw some 1,600 athletes and coaches from all over the country. It will start with the parade of athletes and the official opening program at the CCSC.

Cebu Youth Music Festival grand prize winner, Danielle Mae Ozaraga will render the doxology followed by the singing of the National Anthem by the University of Cebu Chorus. Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama will welcome the delegates.

Ozaraga will also perform the Olympic song ‘Power of Dream’ in the program.

Cebu’s top netter Jana Pages will lead the Oath of Sportsmanship while PESS Supervisor for Region 7, Dr. Vivian Giñete, will read the Oath of the Officiating Officials.

The Lighting of the Urn of Peace and Unity will feature Cebuano football legends and former members of the national team as well as Cebu’s oldest football player and the team captain of the Visayas elementary division.

Nestle-Philippines president and CEO John Miller will open the games followed by the presentation of the “Milo Going 50, Golden Years of Philippine Sports, The Musical” and the grand fireworks display and pyromusical.

Meanwhile, Ballesteros said all coaches and team managers of Team Visayas will meet at 2 p.m. today at the CCSC while another meeting for the liason officers, medical teams, communicators, police, CITOM and MEC will be held on Oct.12 at 9 a.m. also at the CCSC.
