BUENOS AIRES — Doctors have finished an operation to siphon blood from beneath the skull of Argentine President Cristina Fernandez. The surgery was done to relieve pressure on her brain two months after she suffered an unexplained head injury.
There has been no official announcement that the surgery has concluded, but Buenos Aires Gov. Daniel Scioli confirms that the operation has concluded and says Fernandez is recovering from anesthesia inside the Fundacion Favaloro, one of Argentina’s top cardiology hospitals.
“We have received first word that the president has come out of surgery and is recovering from anesthesia,” Scioli announced. “Now we’re waiting for the doctors’ report,” he added, wishing her a rapid recovery.
