Radioman loses gadgets, jewelry to burglars
MANILA—Burglars broke into the house of a mediaman in Quezon City while he was taking a nap on Monday and escaped with more than P300,000 in valuables.
Eduardo “Ed” Verzola, 61, reported losing P300,000 in jewelry, two Acer laptops worth P52,000, two Nokia cell phones valued at P10,000 and two Nike bags worth P3,700.
Case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Charles Jallores of the Talipapa police station said the break-in happened at the journalist’s house in Carmel 5 Subdivision in Barangay (village) Tandang Sora.
Verzola is a broadcast journalist for DWBL radio and writes a column for the Philippine Business and News Forum.
Initial investigation showed that the break-in might have happened between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday while the complainant was taking a nap.
Jallores said the burglars may have climbed over the wall and entered the house by dismantling the window grills.
