REIGNING 37th Milo Marathon Cebu Leg queen Mary Joy Tabal extended her winning streak after ruling the Kapamilya Run: One Run, One Philippines yesterday at the SM City Cebu.
Tabal snatched the 21-kilometer half-marathon crown by clocking one hour, 25 minutes and 52 seconds. Mereeis Ramirez of Dumaguete City finished in one hour, 36 minutes and 21 seconds to finish second while Christy Sevilleno rounded off the top three, finishing in 1:39.27.
In the men’s side of the 21k, the Kenyans once again came out on top as Abraham Missos (1:12.46) and Isaac Simat (1:13.13) finished first and second, respectively. Rafael Piscos rounded off the top three finishers with a time of 1:14.46.
Francis Kakui and Lovely Andrin, meanwhile, were the winners in the 10k race. Kakui finished in 35:53 to take the men’s title while Andrin clocked 45:43 to bag the women’s crown.
Cherry Andrin joined her sisters on the podium after she topped the women’s 5k race with a time of 20:16. John Daryl Manos topped the 5k men’s division with a time of 16:06.
Around a thousand runners joined the running event organized by ABS-CBN and handled by veteran race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
