Man fights for his life

Theo Laygo

He may not look tough on the outside but make no mistake about it, Theo Laygo is a fighter. In a span of just 14 months, he has been through seven operations.

The war he is waging is against brain tumors which have affected his speech, breathing, swallowing, even the blinking of his eyes. Because of his condition, Theo is prone to pneumonia and viral infections. He has likewise been forced to quit his job as a call center agent.

Theo, who has a young daughter, is currently confined in the intensive care unit of Philippine General Hospital. Intubated and under treatment for infection after surgery to remove yet another tumor last month, Theo is once again fighting for his life.

His ailment has crippled the 32-year-old while his medical bills have drained his family financially. The new round of treatments costs them P6,000 a day.

Theo will soon undergo another surgery, the eighth and hopefully his last, and maybe, he will be on his way to recovery.
