STUDENTS can treat their beloved teachers to free calls through a Facebook application that was created especially for the National Teachers’ Month.
Smart Communications Inc. has made available ‘My Teacher, My Hero’ App on the popular social networking site that will allow students to send their teachers special greeting cards via www.facebook.com/SmartNTM.
Once the teacher receives the greeting cards, they will also get a free call, which they can avail of by clicking a link that will direct them to a page where they will input their mobile number. They will then receive an SMS with the instructions.
“This is our way of honoring and thanking teachers from all over the country for their tireless dedication to the craft and their valuable contribution in molding school kids to be productive and responsible citizens,” said Leah Camilla Jimenez, Group Head for the Multimedia Office at Smart.
Students not only get to greet their teachers online, they would also give their teachers the special treat of a one-minute free call from Oct. 1 to 5.
Only calls made to other Smart and Talk ‘N Text numbers will be deemed free of charge.
Students can send unlimited number of these canned greeting cards to their teachers. Sending the greeting card via the Facebook app is also for free.
“This is a special service that will be made available for a limited time only as we celebrate National Teachers’ Month. As a telco, this is our special way of saying thank you to our teachers,” said Smart Public Affairs head Ramon Isberto.
The app is part of a series of activities and initiatives that Smart has lined up for the month-long celebration in honor of teachers.
Smart will also be providing live streaming and Wi-fi connectivity during the National Teachers’ Month grand celebration today at the Department of Education-ULTRA Philippine Sports Arena.
