DZIQ: Catholic Church turns to prayer to stop the RH bill
MANILA, Philippines—The Catholic Church is turning to prayer in a bid to “enlighten” President Benigno Aquino III, and other supporters of the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill.
In an Radyo Inquirer report, Archbishop Ramon Arguelles of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lipa was quoted as saying that the Catholic Church had declared May 9, Monday, as a National Day of Prayer.
The report said that Catholic Church was inviting the public to “join in calling to the Lord”, so that President Aquino III, and all those who support the RH Bill “will see the light.”
RH bill will institutionalize government support for family planning promotion, including sex education in schools. The Catholic Church is steadfastly against modern birth control methods.
Meanwhile, the Novena for Life, a nine-day vigil conducted in the chapel of the Arzobispado in Intramuros, will also end on May 9. The vigil likewise intends to stop the RH bill through the power of prayer.
